The Sire of this colt, Thunderello, was one of the fastest sprinters in recent years. He retires as a stakes winner with earnings of $388,400 after finishing second in the Breeders Cup Sprint (Grade I). In the Breeders Cup he set fractions of 21.53.43.91, and 56.09 before "yielding grudgingly" to Champion Orientate. He was co-leading sprinter worldwide in 2002. As a two-year-old, Tunderello broke is maiden at Saratoga by fourteen lengths. Thunderello is a son of Montbrook, also a sprinter, and the sire of such outstanding horses as Outofthebox, Trust N Luck, Shake You Down, and Chapel Royal. Thunderello's first foals are two-year-olds of 2006.
The dam of this colt, Simply A Jewel, is a daughter of Gulch, who won seven Gradr I stakes including the Breeders Cup Sprint, the Metropolitan Handicap (twice), The Wood Memorial, The Hopeful, and the Futurity Stakes, Gulch earned $3,095,521.
